On Saturday 4/4 (the week before Easter) at 4pm in the new Liverpool ONE shopping mall, we held our first 'Guerrilla Worship' gathering. It was kind of a Dream worship 'flash mob' and felt very, very special!
We began scattered among the shoppers. At the signal, we all stopped and took off our shoes ... an ancient sign that this is "holy ground". God lives in shopping malls as well as churches! We then made out way to the park at the centre of the mall where we sat together to form a cross ... and prayed silently for a few minutes. We remembered Easter and the cross. We prayed for the current economic situation ... for those who have lost jobs ... and for God's blessing on our city ... we prayed for hope.
Well done Rob (our web master and now guerrilla worship czar) and thanks Phil Janvier (video guru) for capturing this event so beautifully.

The video has really caught the event and the statement is powerful. Well done to Rob! and the video crew. It felt powerful to Ray on Saturday. I enjoyed the whole experience and the cards we gave out were well received by those watching, but the joy that lingered in our hearts for the rest of the day was an unexpected but welcome surprise. Watching the video brings it all back!! Thanks.
I was on the middle level at 4pm and was amazed to watch almost the whole concourse clear, with people making their way up the steps, shoes in hand. Store assistants were coming out the shops pointing and saying \"there\'s another one!\" \"what\'s going on?\" Brilliantly organised and a privilege to be a part of it. Thanks guys.
What an amazing event. Walking barefooted was a small reminder of the pain Jesus must have felt when carrying the cross. It was a priviledge to be part of such a great vision, thank you. I will be at the next one!....
Reminds me of the Open Air meetings my youth group did in Manchester when I was a teen and being "apprenticed" to ministry. What a calm, powerful, memorable witness
It was great to see young people joining in spontaneously - I heard some of them saying things like ... "What's it about - oh look - it's a cross shape, people are praying! Hey isn't this cool!"
Saw the video today - it was awesome! What a message it sent to those in the mall, and to those who participated. Yes, all ground is Holy Ground because God is there. What a concept to carry in your heart every day - that where ever you walk, it is Holy Ground. May God bless your continued journey as you become more like Jesus every day.
Hey: Did you have any idea this video would go around the world? Did you know how much hope it would give -how many times it would be repeated......? Dream big! Lorne (from Montreal)
Brilliant, and putting that music by Moby over the video was a great idea.
I am going to show this to my Mission small group that I lead at my church. It is exactly the sort of 'soft' evangelism that I think people need to get more involved in. You don't have to be an evangelist with a capital E to do this stuff. Its exciting and its radical - just like Jesus.
Hi, i came across this today and think it's a great, fresh way to bring God to others, I love it. I also think that perhaps a reveal wearing t-shirts that state something like 'holy ground' aswell as the symbolic act of taking ones shoes off would highlight the idea of God being everywhere abit better to members of the public. What do you think? By the way i would to be part of the next one. Kind regards, Claire.
