Lent - Day 20 Pat Yourself on the Back
Written by Andy

One of the hardest people for me to complement is myself, in fact I used to pride myself in loving others more than I loved myself. Recently I have been learning to give myself 'a pat on the back' a lot more.

Now we are at the half way mark in Lent, look back over the last couple of weeks and remember those things you have done well, how well you have managed normally stressful situations or people, a job well done or an achievement you can be proud of.

How could you 'pat yourself on the back'?

I think its really hard to acknowledge to yourself things you have done well. I've always felt everything I did could have been better, so a good start for me is to be kinder to myself and not to berate myself over minor failures! In terms of a reward to myself I'd just do something I enjoyed, like a really nice meal, watching a tv programme I like, a nice hot bath... a counsellor told me these things are really important to keep you happy (ish) and healthy!
