Written by Andy Wain

Catching the news can leave me feeling overwhelmed and helpless especially listening to humanitarian disasters. After hearing such a story turn the news off and pause for a moment, invite God to show you how he would like you to respond; he might speak through a feeling, thought or impression. Write it down and make sure you do it

This is a pertinent thought today, with the rearrest of Jon Venables, one of the murderers of Jamie Bulger. I was trying to think about how God might see Jon... that is such a difficult thought. He knows every thought of his head, every sight he's ever seen, yet we are told in the Bible that God loves everyone. I find this a difficult thought. But I think God told me again (through undertaking the above reflection) that it is his place to judge.

I think so too. I don't think that the 'hang 'em and flog 'em' response is part of God's kingdom, although it's very natural. If we condemn someone as evil, it's like we take away their potential for good and we waste their life as well as the life that they've wasted.
