So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him
(Romans 12:1)
This ‘Reflection Zone’ takes different parts of the body as symbols of different parts of our everyday lives.
Our Heads – thoughts and feelings
Our Lips – words
Our Hands – actions
Our Feet – where we walk
Our Eyes – how we see
Our Ears – what we listen to
For each one, there’s a passage from the bible, a thought and a prayer response for offering that part of your life to God...
We invite you to follow this journey and encounter God as you do so…
Take your time,
there’s no rush.
Enjoy this space,
God is here.

... offering your thoughts to God

Choose a card either at random or one that seems to stick out to you.
Sit with it for a while and reflect.
-“I chose this card because…”
-“This card connects with my life right now because…”
-“This card reflects something I am thankful for…”
-“This card reflects something I am longing for…”
Allow your reflection to lead into prayer. Simply tell God what’s going through your head.

From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. Kind words are like honey — sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

From a wise mind comes wise speech;
the words of the wise are persuasive.
Kind words are like honey—
sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Proverbs 16:23-24
Words can heal or hurt, create or destroy.
Is there a word or sentence God wants you to speak more often?
“Thank you”
“Help”
“I’m sorry”
“I love you”
“Yes”
“Please”
“No”
…Or something else?
You may like to write your word/s on one of the post-it notes and then take it with you and stick it somewhere this week to remind you.

May the favour of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us

May the favour of the Lord our God rest upon us;
establish the work of our hands for us
(Psalm 90:17)
You are one of a kind.
Unique.
Only you can be the person God calls you to be.
Only you can live the life God calls you to live.
You can leave a mark on this world that no one else can.
Take some time to look at your hands…
Then ask God if he wants to show you what he has for you to do.
Today.
This week.
This year.
With your life.
As a response, if you want to say “yes Lord”, you can leave your unique fingerprint

…Walk with me and work with me… (from Matthew 11)
Jesus invites us to walk with him.
To make the ground holy wherever we walk.
Taking your shoes off is an ancient symbol of being on Holy Ground going back to the time of Moses.
You might like to take your shoes off, then simply stand for a while to think and pray about the places you regularly ‘walk’ through.
Pray that you’ll be aware of God’s presence there.
Pray that the footprints you leave will be holy in that place.

Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

…some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"
He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."
Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
Mark 8:22-25
Things can look very different through tinted lenses. You might like to try looking around through the glasses.
How do you see the world?
Rose tinted – Always cheerful and happy, but not keen to face sadness or pain?
Dark glasses – Everything usually looks gloomy?
Short sighted – Today’s busyness is all too clear but you lose perspective?
Long Sighted – Caught up in planning ahead and missing out on living life right now?
Magnifying Glass – Making mountains out of molehills?
You might like to ask Jesus to heal your sight so that you see life and the world the way he does.

And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper ...

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire.
And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.
(1 Kings 19:11-12)
Close your eyes for a few minutes and listen carefully.
What sounds did you notice?
Sometimes God speaks as a “gentle whisper”
Have you sensed God speaking to your heart while you’ve been at this Cathedral?
Perhaps nothing loud, audible or dramatic, but a still small voice.
God whispers to you.
Invites you.
Calls you.
Says “follow me”
And then leads you into a changed life.
To bring change to those around you.
Listen carefully.
And answer.
