feedback
Last night's Dream network service was jointly sponsored by Ikea unbreakable mirrors and the Health and Safety Dept (you had to be there).
If you were there, it would be great to have some feedback on two counts...
1. Content: We're going to be running basically the same service at Greenbelt, so it would be good to hear what worked/didn't work/changed your life/got on your nerves.
2. Venue: Did you prefer the ladychapel last night or the "well" in the main cathedral the last two times. Would you be keen to suggest a different venue altogether?
(if you weren't there, you're just going to have to come to Greenbelt now, where there's also going to be John Tavener, Coldcut, Billy Bragg, Matt Redman and Chas n' Dave!)

Dear all,
I enjoyed the service very much, if not only to catch up with people as well as have some time to rest....
I love the Ladychapel but having not been to the other services in 'the well', it is hard to comment. I think that this space provides the right atmosphere and context for a service like Dream, but only have a few chairs available next time, as I think this took something away from the feeling of being 'one' in the group.
I thought the mirror thing was powerful as I was not expecting the loud bang. Shame it didn't crack, but the point still came across. I wondered if it would have more impact being in the centre of the room, but then there is the need for safety and therefore, it needs to be done as far away from people as possible. This is a pity, but the point will come across and for me did most strongly when you carried the sheet away.
The guitar playing was very good (I genuinely thought it was a cd!)
The pics and graphics on the screen were great as lots of them were of Liverpool.
I thought that there was a good amount of creativity that went into the stations, but I'm not sure that I engaged with them in the same depth as I have done before at Haydock. The map one was interesting - but I expected that when I turned the map over, there would be something of encouragement for me, e.g. a promise from the bible or some other encouraging word. but it was just the same on the other side.
I read all the instructions for each station, but only actually engaged fully with the heavenoploy one which is very clever, and the stones one. I found this very helpful.
I'm not sure what other people think. Maybe it is because I was so focussed on the reflection read by Bethan and Mark (I found this very inspiring) and the theme of 'masks' that it would have been more helpful for me to stay in my place and continue to ponder this topic in my own way. Everyone is different so we will all engage with the service in different ways and on different levels, so this is not a complaint..(!)
I hope that all this is of some help. It is very good though and ideal for a Greenbelt service - enough space, activity and reflection time all in there with live music as well. What more do the punters need?
Well done, I might come and gate crash your next get-together (well Malcolm has invited me...) as I won't be at Greenbelt on the day of the service.
Thanks from Ruth

Nice photo!
I liked the 'ordinary' intro.
It'd be great if you could incorporate chocolate brownies into a station again (or meat pies)!
In my opinion, the ladychapel was a better venue by far - the space was amazing, especially when the sun was setting at the end.

I wonder if parts of the psalm and the final bit of the sending out couldn't be read by participants too (ie words on the screen)?
I think that I actually preferred the cathedral well (mainly, but not entirely, due to less chair-humping).
I agree with Ruth on the number of chairs put out too, although might be a sensitive issue!! It just felt more 'churchy' and less relaxed to me (but then I am not a big fan of chairs in general!).

In spite of being part of the planning group, and consciously critiquing the service throughout, I still got a lot out of last night, so it must have been good! The photos scrolling with richard playing in the background was fab!
Various points of feedback (in no particular order):
The intro to the confession needs to be clearer - explaining better what people are being asked to do.
Also the first sentence of Steve's bit about "only our images are on the mirrors" didn't really flow / work at the time - needs a re-write?
Need to swap readers at the end of a sentence, not mid-sentence, in psalm.
Generally need to make sure there's enough pens (that work!) / blutak etc. at each station - especially the people-chain one.
Good idea of Bethan's to have people read together some of the Psalm and the sending out.
Need paper towels to wipe the mugs before the next person drinks?
I prefer the well - the ceiling is so much more awe-inspiring! And we wouldn't have to shift all those chairs out and in!
Can we have decaff cafetiere coffee available?

Knew I'd forget something.
After "we invite you to take off your shoes", there needs to be a long enough pause for people to take their shoes off, before the next bit of the script...

Dream on Sunday, it was my first time at a network dream in the cathedral, wasn't keen on the cold stone floor, but hey my cushion wasn't big enough-my problem!
I found the mirrors and live guitar music and the powerpoint presentation inspiring. Particularly engaging with what it does mean to be ordinary and loved.
I have to say I came with scriptures in my mind that God had already quickend early in the day and I found the space to just sit and think and explore.
I did look at the stations and was really taken with the graffiti wall, it was just right for me. I didn't really connect with the other stations. I tried to with heavenoply but found there was no hospital or doctor so left people in community chest or even chance, quite a challenge in itself! :(
Throughly enjoyed the time and had space with God.
Please let us know how it works at greenbelt, does this mean you need L19:dream for the refreshments there? (Only joking!lol), I hope it goes well, it will be challenging if a lot of people turn up at once. Let us know the dates so we can pray.

Hi everyone!
I liked dream very much (again!), I really enjoyed the first bit with different people reading sections about our ordinary lives. That touched me as perhaps my ordinary-ness is something i'm struggling a bit with at the moment, and it was great - made it ok to ok! :)
I really connected with the everyday objects station - found it made me more aware of a love that there is, but which i sometimes take for granted.
I think it would great at Greenbelt, and hope it goes really well.
Oh and I think i preferred the chapel well, but only cos i just prefer the space. i think it worked well in there too.
Thanks again (sorry about lousy cuppas!)
Lucy
p.s ruth are you the one in bolton?
