how was it for you
Last night we had a dream network service at Liverpool cathedral to celebrate five years since the launch of the first group.
It took a lot of work from a lot of people, but I loved it. There was a real buzz as different groups brought prayer stations and set up before the service. I loved the fact that because of that, no-one (especially me) knew everything that the service would include.
Most of the groups in the network are small. That's brilliant because one of our core values is that we are primarily building community rather than putting on events. It also means that there is then great potential for those groups to gather together for network events.
Some questions (please feel free to have differing opinions, that's the strength of being a diverse network)
1. Was last night helpful? In what particular ways?
2. Were there any lessons we can learn from what didn't work?
3. Did the cathedral seem a good venue?
4. Would you like us to have a regular network event? How often (opinions so far have ranged from "monthly or more" to "twice a year")
5. Any other thoughts?
4 Comments:
1. It was good for me, especially meeting other people from the other groups.
2. Not sure!
3. Yes, like the cathedral a lot, but is there any wheelchair accessability to the bit we used?
4. I reckon once every 2-3 months (4-6 a year)
5. No. Don't think so. Not relevant ones anyway...

1. great to see the network coming together and people contributing to worship from different experiences. I think this was a real encouragement to many to see how they and their (small) community is a part of something bigger.
2. maybe we need something more visually striking in such a large venue! It would have been great to move the Cathedral's own large cross down into our worship area (but completely impractical!) Maybe a bigger screen, more projections, etc... I know this adds hugely to set up though.
3. Great venue - has an ambience all of its own.
4. every other month would be ideal. Any less than quarterly would lose a momentum and would make them feel like 'special' events rather than an integrated part of what Dream is.
5. I don't think much so I reckon this is enough already!!

1. I loved it! Great to see all the groups coming together, whether the long-standing ones, the newer ones, or the not-quite-started-but-almost ones, like us!
2. Can't really think of anything at the moment...
3. Love the venue, & it's so awe-inspiring. Bethan makes a good point about accessibility though (they had the same problem in the well on the 'Dying to Live' day recently)
4. I tend to go for less often rather than more. Mainly because otherwise I think it's harder to establish local relationships & networks, especially for the newer groups who are still finding their feet. If it was too often we'd be wondering whether to still meet by ourselves that month, or to do the big gathering instead, which might make it feel a bit disjointed. And I don't know whether them feeling more like 'special events' is a problem... So my vote would be perhaps twice a year, or quarterly at most.
5. No after all that...!

1. Yes! Especially reflecting on the journey of the last 5 years - an eventful and unexpected one for me. And the brownies were scrummy!
Also good to catch up with people I don't often see.
2. see answer to 3.
3. The well is a superb venue - that ceiling!!
But even on a cushion that floor is hard! Anyway we could invest in some big mats???
The refreshments got very crowded too - bigger table, more helpers? (Happy to volunteer!)
4. Yes, but just 2 or maybe 3 a year. Anymore than that just becomes a workload rather than a celebration.
5. Thank you!!
